Polka Dots and Flowers Thanks so much!

Hi!

One thing I seem to run short on besides birthday cards is thank you notes! I do have some store bought box cards, but this one needs to go to someone who did something special for my family and they also appreciate every handmade card ever made for them, so again with the help of some great color and sketch challenges I was able to put together a great little card for them!

You've Been On My Mind!

Hi!

I have a quick post for you that works with two challenges! I used the Sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping and the colors from Off the Wall Craftiness color challenge.

I have a friend I have been neglectful lately in writing, so I needed a card to let her know I have been thinking of her.  Having two great challenges that worked well together made it perfect to put one together in no time!

Have a great week!

Old World Ship Collage

Hi~

Well, things are a bit hectic in our household right now, so I didn't think I was going to get to participate in The Play Date Cafe Challenge this week. As I mentioned in another post I have a lot of birthdays coming up, so I had to make a masculine birthday card anyway so I challenged myself to center them around the colors this week.

The photograph did not take the true colors of the card which is disappointing. The image looks way more rustic and Old World than is showing up in this picture. I am not sure if you can see the difference in the colors from behind the card and what the card is sitting on, but those are the same colors, but yet behind the card is washed out. I tried reshooting it, but I just don't have the right flash and lens right now. One day!

Well, thanks for taking a look and this color combination helped with those masculine cards we tend to put off to the very last minute! J

Jazzy Paper Designs Inspiration #12

Hi~

I am beyond excited (squeal) to have been chosen as one of the Jazz Cats of the week over at Jazzy Paper Designs! What an honor to be among this talented group of artist!  Please head over and check out the Design Team.  Tenia host really fabulous challenges based on Jazz artist posters and album covers. This week is the Thelonious Monk Poster.
Here is the Inspiration Photograph!
This is my take on it!

I find music to be a great inspiration so I chose inspire as my sentiment! It does make me sad that we are losing this form of art more and more in our schools.

I hope you will head over to Jazzy Paper Designs and play along.
Warm Aloha!

Have a Twinkly day!

It seems to be that time of year where we have a lot of birthdays between now and December, so I really have to get on the ball!

I have a cute little card that I made very quickly for a cute little girl for a friend of ours. I rather enjoy making little girl cards because I don't get to do it that often, so I had fun putting this one together. After I completed it, I realized it fit the colors to the color Challenge at Off The Wall Craftiness, and I think I will be getting this posted within the last 24 hours, so I am actually getting two challenges in this week.  That doesn't work out too often with what little spare time I have had lately, so I love those happy coincidences!

Now onto the card!
Hope you have a Twinkly day too!

Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #5

Well, it's no secret to anyone who knows me well that I love Black, White and PINK, and I came across a challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon to use black and white with Ribbon and you could use a splash of color. Bingo PINK! I have had this beautiful ribbon for awhile that I have been waiting to use, but it was NOT beautiful to work which I discovered last night. I bought it on a trip home at JoAnn Fabrics.  So this was a true ribbon CHALLENGE in every aspect because a bow was not happening! This ribbon is really for sewing.
Here is a close up of the embossing! Still not a great shot, but hopefully you can tell it's really not much better I am afraid. The edges of the flower are inked with Stampin' UP! Craft White.

Well, I hope you enjoy my little card for the day! Have a great one!

~Thinking of You~

~Hello~

Hope your weekend was fabulous!

I have a card for two delightful challenges!

Kim Wilson's Off the Wall Craftiness color challenge. The delightful inspiration photo is below. The colors are soft pink, yellow and green!

My second challenge I am linking this card to is over at Stampin' Royalty which is to create your own designer paper.

A funny note growing up I never liked polka dots at all. I think I had visions of Minnie Mouse, as cute as she is, I didn't want to be seen wearing them, and well I rather like them now (within design reason)! So, my family is surprised that I gravitate to polka dots so much presently.
Hope you have a great week!

Aloha in Colour!

Well, I hope you are having a fab weekend! Staying quite busy here and finding it hard to get some crafting time done, so I put this together very quickly very late last night snapped the shot before we left today, and now I am trying to get this blogged and loaded before we are on the go again.

This little bit of Aloha is for the ColourQ challenge. You can find the colors and inspiration below.

Since I still had my handy dandy Storybook Cartridge in from my last project I created another label using Cosmo Cricket pattern paper and snipped the top off to be well different! ha. I love this cartridge. What is not showing up is I embossed my Stampin' Up! Whisper White layer with my textured plate from the Stampin Backgrounds 1. Urgh! It adds so much to this card.

The Hibiscus is layered with Bashful Blue. I think I had just enough to complete these projects, and now I am out unless I can scramble some more scraps.

Hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful!

The Play Date Cafe Challenge 41 Thinking of You!

It's another fabulous challenge at The Play Date Cafe. They have another beautiful color palette picked out.

When I saw it I knew I had to play with my Cosmo Cricket Designer Paper! I am really bad about collecting paper packs and not using them, so I have made an effort to start using my designer paper more in my projects.  I also {eek} finally broke open my Martha Stewart Doilies. They are like gold to me because they are not easy to find here in Hawaii, and my Mom searched and searched for them at the Michael's near her and nothing, and my dear sweet friend who came and visited a couple of months ago brought me a pack she found at a Michael's near her. For those who do not know we do not have Michael's or Joanne's etc here. We are pretty limited.

Okay, onto the card! J
My center embellishment label was created with my Cricut using the Storybook cartridge. Then I used my circle punch and started with yellow card stock. Next I layered my Martha Stewart doily after inking the edges a bit then added my felt flower I made using two of my beautiful blooms dies and finished off with a scarlet jewell button.

My sentiment is from The Angel Company and curled to give a banner feel!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Warm aloha!

EBTKS #20 Buttons!

Happy Tuesday Morning! (Well it's morning for me here in Hawaii!)

One of my favorite all time embellishments to use on cards is buttons, so I was excited when I saw the new challenge from Everything But The Kitchen Sink.

Aren't those squirrels cute?

The girl squirrel has a little bow in her hair!
Have a crafty day!

Snow Swirled Bling

Hi!

How about a little Christmas in August? For the CAS-tastic challenge it was to Bling it up, so I decided to jump start on some Christmas! I thought I could add this to the Paper Play Challenge Anything Goes.

Operation Write Home~Christmas in July!

Aloha!

Operation Write Home is having a great challenge:

The challenge this week is Christmas In July, we challenge you to make a Christmas card for one of our heroes to send home.

So, I made a quick and simple card since it's going to our heros to send home to a loved one the less embellishments the better so I didn't add any frills to it.  I also have to admit I was short on time today and I am a SLOW card maker, so I needed to make a fast card!

Since I am blessed to have just picked my husband up safely this week from another deployment to Iraq and feel fortunate that at least this Christmas he will be home with my Son and I there have been many holidays he has not, so I know how much this program means.

I have been making cards and getting them ready to send to OWH. I hope you will join in on fun for this challenge. Our heros and their families really appreciate it. There is a very nice prize donation with this challenge.

Here are the basic guidelines that might help when creating a card for OWH!
  1. No glitter. Seriously. It's a hazard for our heroes, so we won't send cards with any glitter that will flake off the card. Read more.
  2. A2 sized cards. Most efficient for our shipping dollars, so we strongly recommend A2 (4.25" x 5.5" - half a sheet of cardstock). Read more.
  3. No storebought. Yep, pretty straightforward. Our heroes don't like them, so we send them our cards filled with love and creativity! Read more.
  4. Watch the deadlines. We have to mail cards 5-6 weeks ahead of a holiday, so check out the deadlines posted on our homepage, on the left side. Those are the very last last last dates, so aim for a couple weeks earlier if at all possible, since we start shipping 8 weeks ahead.
  5. Any quantity. One card to 100 to 500 — every card matters! We recommend emphasizing quality over quantity...relax, do your best, and pour lots of love into each card!
  6. Packing Slip. Download this handy packing slip and write in your contact info and quantity—the shipper will be able to email you to let you know your cards arrived. If you haven't heard back you can also check the Thankful Thursday post each week to see if they've arrived. Our shippers get lots of packages every day, so please give them some grace in getting back to you.
Hope you will play along!
