10 Minute Craft Dash - Holiday Cheer and some EXCITING NEWS!

Hello there!

**Woohoo this was a 10 Minute Craft Dash Favorite on 12/4/12 Thanks for the shout out!**

I have some exciting news to share.....but you will have to wait till the bottom to find out! :-)

I am going to share my 10 Minute Craft Dash card first! Paulina has another fabulous color palette and the Sponsor is DeNami Designs! Woot Woot!
I started by gathering my supplies first!
And then the mad craft dash began.

I started with a 5 x 5 card base using navy blue cardstock. I layered a C-Flute Corrugated Kraft Paper onto my base. I had this on my desk leftover from another project.  I then cut a piece of white cardstock to size to stamp my Pine Wreath from DeNami Designs.  Next I added a sentiment from DeNami Designs Holiday Greeting Set to the center of the pine wreath. The finishing touches were to add glitz and glam. Noting I had time to spare, I added some snowflakes for added shimmer!
Final time to complete: 9 Minutes and 2 seconds
It's a wonder every time how I make it under 10 because I am slow as can be but this challenge sure lights a fire under me! :-))) Just no fussy bows and all the layering I usually do.
Won't you join the fun! There's still time!

I also would like to join the fabulous challenge at Paper Issues - Happy Holidays, Stampin' For Pleasure - Final Rudolph Day Challenge

NOW FOR MY NEWS!!!!!!

The Kraft Journal - Lunch Bag Kraft Paper Christmas Tree Tutorial

I have a fun little project for The Kraft Journal to share making your very own paper Christmas Trees from Lunch Bag Kraft.

The supplies you need include:
Lunch Bag Kraft cardstock.
* Wooden Bobbin
* Dowel Rod
* Stamps to decorate
* Glitter
* Embellishments

To start, you will need to cut some circles from Lunch Bag Kraft cardstock in the following sizes.
  • 6.25 inches
  • 5 inches
  • 4 inches
  • 2.75 inches
  • 1.5 inches

I used my Cricut, but you can utilize those resources in your house such as trace around bowls and cups.
At this point, I stamped my circles randomly with some snowflake Images from DeNami Designs for a decorative touch.

Next I folded my circle in half.
Fold in Half Again.
And Again!
And one more time! :-)
Next you will need to snip the tip off.
The Next step (not pictured...lost my photographer) is to now open up your folded circles and fold accordion style.

You will now repeat the process for the other circles.
Next you will place your dowel rod into your wooden bobbin and stack the folded circles.  For a touch of glitz, you may want to add a touch of glitter to the edges before stacking them.

Nottinghill Seam binding was added to the top; tied off in a fussy bow embellished with some jingle bells.
A star was die-cut from C-Flute Corrugated Kraft Cardstock and painted for a shabby vintage look.

Here's the finished tree. Fun and cute and easy to make.

Be sure to stop by The Kraft Outlet to check out the wonderful line of Kraft Paper products! I would love it if you dropped by The Kraft Journal and left me some love!

I am also joining in at Paper Issues - Happy Holidays, and thanks to Benzi...Little Red Wagon - Trim the Tree!

Silver and Gold Recipe Swap with Catered Crop

Hello!

*Yay! This card was selected as a Top 3 Winner at The Shabby Tea Room...Thank You Ladies*

How is your week starting off? My fellow American bloggy friends, I hope you are recovering from the Thanksgiving weekend. We are trying to play catch up after spending the weekend away. It was nice to get away, but all that catch-up work after is no fun especially with the holidays approaching and the house is array with tubs and totes everywhere.

I had the distinct honor of having my shabby xoxo card chosen as one of the Winning Recipe cards at the Catered Crop, so I was asked if I would create a card in this weeks Quickfire recipe swap.
So here is my quickfire card using Silver and Gold! :-)
I stepped outside my norm and created a 5x5 card base using Rustic Cream. I layered a textured white cardstock by DCWV which has been embossed with a damask pattern.
I am trying to get a jump on making some Christmas Thank You cards to have ready for after the Holidays....so, this will be the first of many in the days ahead I am sure.  The So Sweet of You sentiment is from Paper Sweeties You make Me Smile

The glitzed and glammed die-cut tree was actually ready to go just waiting to be used on a project. I had cut this last year and never got around to using it and thought it was perfect for this challenge. Another reason to NEVER EVER TOSS anything out. :-) The only addition I added was some chunky snowflakes to the edges.

The gold and silver ribbons are from MayArts.

Further inspiration for this card was found at:
The Shabby Tea Room - Just Neutrals

Paper Issues - Holiday Happy
Stampin' For Pleasure - Final Rudolph Day
Thanks so much for sharing a little bit of your day with me. I know this is a busy time of year! It means the world to me!
Hugs and blessings!

Celebrate Your Day - All Things Grow With Love

Hi!

I am still taking a little break from Holiday cardmaking at the moment. I am sure I will be back with more Holiday shares before the season is over.

Today the weather is warm for this time of year and instead of feeling like fall, it feels more like spring although it is very apparent visually it is not Spring. It reminds me of what is to come. New beginnings. As we round the end of 2012 and start thinking forward to 2013, there are many new beginnings.  So in a round about way, my card is to new beginnings and fresh starts. Growing things with love!
I started by piecing together my patterned papers and adding to my coral card base. I cut a paper doily in half adding some vintage buttons which have been embellished with twine. The die-cut was added to the center where three more vintage buttons with twine were added to the top.
A crochet flower was placed at the lower left of the card front adding a beautiful paper yellow rose to the center.
A length of Crochet Trim was added to the top and a fussy seam binding bow was created adding a beautiful fabric button to the center. Last, but not least, a sentiment from Paper Sweeties; You Make Me Smile was added to the right side of the card front.

Inspiration for my card comes from: The Ribbon Reel: Crochet
We were to create a card / project using CROCHET LACE or CROCHET FLOWER plus BUTTON & RIBBON/TWINE

That's all for me friends!  It will be quiet on the blog for the next few days! I look forward to posting again when I return and we get back in our routine.

Many blessings and hugs!

A little Shabby xoxo

Hi there!

(Woohoo, I am excited and honored that this card was chosen as the Winning Recipe card at The Catered Crop on 11/25/12)

I decided to take a little break from holiday creations and create something shabby!
Started with a card base of Rustic Cream cardstock and placed my patterned paper on top.  I layered the center of the card with a tag I cut from a vintage rose image I had in my stash, a digital image from The House Across the Bay Etsy shop, and circular heart border die layered with a pretty pink patterned paper and a dainty teacup embellished with a beautiful paper rose.
Two little pennant flag banners are tucked in behind the tag.  A length of crochet trim was added to the top of the card.

A shabby bow was created with some vintage seam binding trim embellished with a vintage button and a cute little tag with a sentiment from Paper Sweeties - You Make Me Smile.
A final touch was adding a little butterfly which I have punched from Rustic Cream cardstock which has been embossed and embellished with a sweet rose.

I am joining in the fun at Catered Crop - Rustic and Lace and Paper Playtime - Anything Goes

Well, I hope you have enjoyed my card! I hope you have a great Tuesday!
Blessings!

It's Your Birthday - Do the Hula!

Good Morning!

Coming on real quick today! My son was invited to a Hula Birthday Party at a neighbors. So I pulled out my beloved retired stamps that saw much use when I lived in Hawaii. I also found some papers in my stash that was purchased at a LSS when we lived there as well. It was just scraps, so I put to good use today.  Times like these always proves why we hoard and not get rid of those things we rarely use! :-))))

I didn't have a lot of spare time, so I pulled some inspiration from the Mojo Monday Sketch this week. So here is my fun little card which is making me miss those warm sunny days with the beautiful trade winds.
I started with a bright and sunny yellow card base adding my layers of fun tropical prints. I created a tag and antiqued my edges and stamped my vintage Hula Girl in Tuxedo Black ink. I then colored her in with Prisma Pencils and Mineral Spirits. A length of pink ric-rac trim was added to the top for a decorative touch and some natural raffia ribbon was looped through and tied in a bow.

The sentiment is from Dandelion Designs (a company based in Hawaii) and a Hono (Turtle) image was stamped in kraft ink.

Hopefully our little Hula Birthday girl likes it!

I hope you have wonderful things planned for the weekend. We will be taking the short stack to an Open House at a Baseball Academy for food, fun, and baseball drills. He love loves loves baseball right now, so he is pretty excited.

Here is the Mojo Monday sketch I flipped.

I am also joining Paper Issues - Stamp On It!
Pixie's Crafty Work Shop - Snippets and scraps! :-)

I have to give a shout out to my friend Colleen who helped me get a better understanding of a photo program I have but I didn't know how to utilize. Still so much to learn....just need more hours in the day!

Hugs and Blessings!

Dream, Wish, Believe

Happy Friday Ya'll!

Let me tell ya...it's been one of those weeks. I have a computer on the verge of crashing...ugg. So it took me forever to get these pics uploaded and I wasn't able to crop them to show the details like I wanted. So, I was happy just to get them on the blog period. So I apologize. The card looks prettier in person.

I started with a rustic cream card base adding an embossed Lunch Bag Kraft layer. I used the Letterpress technique.
A poinsettia and leaves was die-cut from felt and layered on some beautiful lace trim which I have threaded with red satin ribbon.

Embellishing touches include beautiful stick pins, a german glass glittered star, and a button laced with some Natural Hemp Cord
Finally a sentiment from Paper Sweeties You Make Me Smile was stamped on a banner in Real Red ink adding some Red Rhinestones for a touch of glitz.

Inspiration for this card was found at the following:
The Ribbon Girl - Sparkle
Catered Crop - Rustic & Lace
My Mum's Craft Shop - Winter Wonderland
Crafty Sentiments - Christmas

I am exited to share a recognition....my colorful Rainbow card was the winner at The Ribbon Reel. So honored!
Thank you for stopping by! I hope things slow down soon and I can catch up with you all!

Creative Paper Trade - Fall Sweeties

Hi!

Burr,  fall is in full swing here in Northern Virginia! We still have a few leaves left on the trees.  But less and less. The theme at Creative Paper Trade is Fall Sweeties.
I started by adding a piece of textured blue patterned paper to my card base. A heart doily was misted  and inked to give it's custom color.   Sophie, from Paper Sweeties, was stamped in Tuxedo Black ink.  She was then colored in with Chalk and mineral spirits; hand-cut, and dressed in an outfit from Mahalo then adhered to the card front.

A length of crochet trim was added to the lower portion of the card adding some beautiful blue buttons which have been laced with twine. And to finish my card, a sentiment from You Are Special was stamped onto a pennant banner and adhered to the upper left of the card front.

As mentioned, Inspiration for my card was found at Creative Paper Trade.

Well, that is it for me! Sorry so short. It's the short stack's birthday tomorrow, so I have quite a bit on my to do list.

I am joining Paper Playtime - Autumn Colors

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
