Happy 4th of July {The Kraft Journal}

Howdy,

Here we are at the end of June...can you believe it? I have another Patriotic Creation for you to go along with our color challenge this week at The Kraft Journal.
I started with a Brown Kraft Cardstock base onto which I added a piece of patterned paper where the edges were distressed.  I added an Event Record from the Ephemera Pack followed by taking a length of Earthy Hemp Cord and twisted it randomly on the card front.  Die-cut stars from Brown Kraft Cardstock as well as other papers were added sneaking in Red and Blue Baker's twine bow adding a tag created from My Creative Time Teeny Tag Holiday greetings. Lastly, sequins were scattered to the front for a touch of glam.

Here is the color challenge for this week:
Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your Color Inspiration creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

Celebrate the 4th Patriotic Popcorn

Good Sunday Morning!

I hope you are enjoying this last weekend in June. Well, if you are headed to a friend's for the 4th and looking for a little hostess gift to take...how about some Patriotic Popcorn in a cute jar with some fabulous Stars and Stripes Trendy Twine.
I think any hostess would appreciate this don't you?
For my card, I started with a Real Red card base onto which I added a layer of blue and kraft patterned paper. To top that I added a star embossed layer of kraft cardstock to carry out the patriotic theme we are celebrating this month.
I added lots of the fabulous Stars and Stripes Trendy Twine behind a die-cut star to serve as my main focal image. I have always been a fan of Baker's Twine used this way! Just above my sentiment (Paper Smooches), I wrapped the twine around several times and tied in a bow to complete the card.
I just added a little bit of the twine at the top of the lid to tie it all in and decorate the jar. The label was found on line. The popcorn is easy to make. Just melt white chocolate, add sprinkles and M & M's and toss.
Head on over to Annie's Paper Boutique to pick up this Stars & Stripes twine for those patriotic projects. Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Let's Celebrate - Patriotic

Hello friends!

With the 4th coming up soon, The Kraft Journal has the perfect challenge to help you get those 4th greetings made in a jiff. Our challenge this week is "CAS Patriotic".

I started with a card base of Brown Kraft Coverweight cardstock which I added a layer of red cardstock to border the white card stock panel to capture the focal image of the United States flag embellishment. I then stamped the Let's Celebrate sentiment from My Creative Time just below in Navy ink.

I took a length of Red and Dark Blue Baker's Twine and wrapped it around the focal panel and tied in a bow. Lastly, I added a couple of sequins to the upper right corner of the panel to finish this CAS Patriotic card.

Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your CAS - Patriotic creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

Have a great week!

Celebrate

Hello~

Hard to believe that tomorrow is the 4th of July! I feel like the time is just flying right on by!

This past weekend, I managed a small bit of crafty time to work on knocking out some cards for mailing to friends and family. Here is one of them. I am just now getting around to posting it.

I kept it flat just for the purpose of mailing and many of you know I like to add big fluffy bows and embellishments. I sat on my hands a bit and kept it simple. I found some inspiration at Seize the Sketch.

I started with Kraft card base and added my layer of designer paper from my stash. Then I die-cut My Creative Time 3 x 4 Stitched Journal Die and added to the center of the card front. Next I die-cut some stars in different sizes and patterens using the 3 star stitched dies from My Creative Time and added them to the top of the Journal card.  Following the sketch, I cut a panel from patterned paper and stamped Celebrate from Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler.  Lastly, I wrapped some Blue Baker's Twine around the card front and tied in a bow.

Well, that wraps this one up for me.  As mentioned, inspiration was found at: Seize the Sketch.

Paper Smooches Sparks - Anything Goes
Pumpkin Spice - Red, White, and Blue, Craftin' Desert Divas - Red, White, and Blue.

For my American Friends, I hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!  For ALL my friends, have a blessed day!

The Kraft Journal - Red White And Blue

Good Monday Morning to you!

This week at The Kraft Journal we have a new challenge for you, and it's RED, WHITE, and BLUE!

I started with a base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock.  I layered an embossed Star panel to the Buff Ivory Cardstock panel which I stamped God Bless America. The sentiment is from DeNami Designs. I added a scallop border piece of patterned paper from my stash where the pieces joined.

I cut out a fire-cracker using a file from the Silhouette store. I just used red and blue papers and of course Buff Ivory Cardstock.  I die-cut an oval from Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock which I embossed using a woodgrain plate. Next I nested it onto a fancy scallop cut from Buff Ivory Cardstock.  Final finishing touches include adding some red and blue rhinestones to the firecracker.

I kept this one pretty flat and easy for mailing. :-)

Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your red, white, and blue creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

I am also sharing at Die Cuttin' Divas - I vow To Thee My Country, Craftin Desert Divas - Red, White, and Blue, My Craft Spot - Patriotic, Pumpkin Spice - Red, White, and Blue, City Crafter Challenge - Red, White, and Blue.

Patriotic Hello

Hello Friends~

{*So Stinkin' Excited This was a Designer Challenge Winner at My Creative Time on 7/10/14*}

Summer is in full swing in our neck of the woods. Sorry I have been absent from making my rounds. I haven't had a lot of extra crafty time, but I did sneak in my very messy craft room and made a patriotic card to prepare for mailing for the upcoming holiday.

For my card, I used the current sketch and color inspiration from My Creative Time Designer Challenge
I started by stamping the Hexy Background onto a piece of Kraft cardstock and distressed the edges and added it to my card base. I added some Natural Jute Ribbon to the card front topping it with a piece of red star patterned paper. Then I took a length of Blue Baker's Twine and wrapped it several times and tied it in a bow.
Next I die-cut some stars using My Creative Time, 3 Star Stiched dies, as well as the arrow and small stars from 4 x 4 Journal Die + More. The Hello sentiment can be found in the My Creative Time set Floral Sentiments. After adding all the stars, I added some random sequins in red, blue and gold to the card front.

As mentioned, inspiration was found at My Creative Time Designer Challenge.

I am also sharing at Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes, Die Cuttin Divas: I Vow To Thee My Country, D.L. Art - Patriotic Challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a Fantastic Friday!

Watch Us Wednesday - Vintage Dictionary Pages - Altered House

Hello Friends,

{This house received Top Honors at Decorate To Celebrate on 7/9/14.}

 It's my turn to spotlight a product over on The Kraft Journal blog hosted by The Kraft Outlet.  Today I am featuring Vintage Dictionary Pages. I love using this product on projects and I have used it more than I count.  I reflect back over a few at the end of this post.

I have had this house sitting in my craft room for awhile to alter. I started by giving the house a base coat of vintage white acrylic paint. I sanded the edges and corners for a rustic look. Next, I measured the front and cut the Vintage Dictionary Pages to size leaving the edges/corners showing. I used a coating of Royal Coat to secure it to the house.
 The rest is just having fun dressing up and designing as you see fit. All items I used today were either scraps or items I have had in my stash for awhile. Such as these Patriotic Sticker embellishments. I thought they looked fun enough to be "windows". The door is a stamped from Paper Sweeties Cottage Elements.
 I incorporated the Vintage Dictionary Pages throughout the house.  I decided to leave the back as is, and I like it. I love having the flag on the back of the roof!
 Several Sapphire boutique buttons were added to the roof along with chunky glitter and lace trim.
I hope have enjoyed my product spotlight today. See below how I have used this product in a few other projects.

Oh my, this is gorgeous. I loved the color combo & the pretty papers you used. But I 'especially' loved the cameo embellie. Cameo's are so vintage and evoke a feel of a by-gone era (to me anyway). They are simple in appearance, yet so classy & elegant. Gracious, I'd love to win something like this. Let me see if I can! TFS such a beautiful card! Hugs
