You're The Best Teacher

Hey There!

I am on my way to knocking out those teacher cards for my son. I have several to make, and I want them to be different. As I talked about in yesterday's post. I have this paper pack I have had for years, and it just goes on forever! Reality is, I have one child and only so many school years left, so I am trying to use it all up as much as I can. I am not a waster, so I use and save all my scraps. Ha! I then recycle anything that can't be used.

More than anything it's fun to pull out your supplies and challenge yourself to use them in various ways.

I used a tag dye and added a scrap of the bus patterned paper to the top. Really working on that stash in multiple ways ha!
I used the same sentiment builder from School Basics by Mint Motif and an apple dye from MCT. The Teacher dye was from PTI. It was lots of fun building this card for a teacher who deserves it very much. Not many Middle School teachers get the appreciation that the elementary level does and I think they sometimes need it more. They teach roughly 150 students per day.

Thank You Teacher

Hello all~

I am sure many of you are enjoying a shorter "work" week.  I feel like May has gone in a blink. In fact, I feel the year has really started sailing by fast. I think I am getting old!

Well, the end of May brings that time to thank teachers for helping our kids grow. My son had an amazing set of teachers this year, and I feel very fortunate because I was very concerned about middle school. He just got lucky to land on such an amazing team.

I used a sketch to jump start my inspiration from Viva La Verve. I have a ton of school themed papers that many of you have seen numerous times on my blog. I am not sure I will ever use the end of this patterned paper, but I will try. The good thing about having so many different teachers over the years, they don't know or care how long you have had it. I am always determined to use my resources. You will see a few more cards this week (hopefully) using it and I'll find ways to change it up.
It's not showing up very well, but the red card stock is embossed with an ABC embossing folder. It gives the card some visual interest and texture.  The stamps are Mint Motif (no longer available) called School Basics,  but I love it. It has many sentiment builders.

Here is the sketch:

Thanks Coach Card 2

Hey y'all!

{Edit to Note...I am honored that this was selected as Top 3 at My Time To Craft on June 2, 2018.}

As promised from yesterday's post, I am back with another thank you card and I did manage to use those same papers and just came up with a different design.
I used Gray cardstock as my base adhering the felt stripped paper down the center leaving a border of card stock just on the left and right side. From there I just staked and stamped and added my baseball theme goodies. Just like yesterday, I stuck with the school colors of Navy and Gray.

Thanks coach

Hello! I'm popping in to share a card I created for my son's Middle School Coach! The school year is wrapping up and the sports season is wrapping up as well. My son is on three baseball teams this season. Middle School ball, Travel ball, and Little League.  He has two coaches for Middle School, so I will be sharing another card make in the next day or so.

My crafting time is so limited these days, so I always have a plan in my head to "just do simple", but then I start pulling out all my supplies and it keeps layering and layering. Ha!
I started this card by making an A2 base from gray cardstock. I don't have a lot of masculine papers in my collection, so I always reach for this velour strip paper I have had for years. I actually used it to make my son's thank you notes from his 6th birthday and he is now 12 1/2. (Not sure how that happened, but I blinked is all) It has made the perfect paper to use in many of the baseball cards I've made over the years. The school colors are Navy and Gray.  I'm sure I will be using it in the card for the other coach, so don't be surprised if you see it again.

I adhered the patterned paper to the card base. I used some layered mat stack die cuts from PTI to hold my focal image. I stamped a baseball and thought it would be cute to make it into a ribbon.  I had a scrap of Navy ribbon, so I attached to a piece of gray cardstock and embellished with white enamel dots.  I stamped the sentiment and tucked it up under the ribbon panel.

One down and another to go.

I thought I would share some pictures of my son and one I captured of them standing on the fence cheering and chanting during their at bat.
 Anybody who has followed me long enough or follows me on facebook knows I refer to my son as the short stack. This picture says it all. He is the little guy among all those big guys. This team is 6-8 graders, but to his left #22 is in 6th. He is actually on the tall side for his age where mine is the opposite end of the height spectrum.
Thank you for stopping in! Have a terrific Thursday!

Still Crusin'

Hello there!

{Edit to add this card was selected as the winner at Hiding in My Craft Room on 5/30/18 I am very humbled thank you}

Hope the start of your week is going well!

As I mentioned yesterday, we have had some yucky weather, so I dusted off a lot of my crafting supplies and got busy! I decided with Father's Day around the corner I could make a dreaded man card. (DMC) They always are challenging for me. :-)))

 I started with a piece of black cardstock and pieced together some patterned papers attaching to the card front. I cut a banner and added to the left side of the card. I stamped my focal image from Crafty Secrets Classic Cars onto white cardstock and used a Spellbinder die to cut it out. I used Prima Watercolor pencils on the image itself. I layered the image inside a Top Note Die and placed the layers in the middle.
Lastly, I added some buttons for further embellishing and a license plate embellie from Tim Holtz.

Happy Birthday with a darling bicycle

Good Monday Morning to you!

{Edit to add this was selected as a Top3 Pick at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges on 5/23/18}

Well we have had 10 straight days of rain and gloom. There is standing water everywhere. That did lead for me to find a few minutes to craft, since all sport activities have been cancelled. Should I have caught up on house work....YES, but did I wanna, NO!

I need some bright colors with all the gloom out my window. I selected a bicycle image from Hero Arts and stamped in a pretty pink onto my stamped cloud background which is also from Hero Arts.  I used some Spellbinders dies to cut my circle images which I layered together.

I started with some pretty patterned paper I had in my stash of scraps and added to the  card front. Next I added a length of aqua seam binding and tied in a bow which I embellished with a pink button laced with hemp twine.
I still had my roll of tickets on my desk from my previous make and stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment from DeNami Designs in the center adding a few pink hearts from Paper Smooches to the ticket. I diecut a row of hearts out of aqua felt and added to the top. Lastly I scattered a few sequins for a final finishing touch.
I am joining in the fun at Pause Dream Enjoy Photo challenge.

Congratulations on your Wedding Day!

 Good Morning!

Lots of weddings happening! Including a Royal Wedding this weekend.  I have a card for a young man that was actually in his mommy's tummy when I got married.  Yikes, I now feel really old. Yes, I was also a child bride (sort of...barely legal age to drink hahaha)! :)))))
I always try and use scraps when I start a project. I have so many from years of crafting.  I pulled out papers that have one of my favorite color combinations. I have lots of lace in my stash as well, so I added a length to the right side of the card front.
My sentiment and frame was from Waltzingmouse Stamps. (no longer in business). I used a Spellbinders Label 10 togo with the stamped frame. I created a fussy seam binding bow which I embellished with a paper flower.  I added another decorative touch with some vintage buttons from my stash.  Lastly, I stamped the word Love (Paper Smooches) onto a ticket and added it to the lower left corner.

Graduation Card

Good Morning!

It's been quite awhile since I got inky. Working and a child on three baseball teams has definitely put any crafting time on the back burner.

 It's that time of year...Grads, Dads, and Weddings!
I have always adored this little DeNami Designs Graduation Owl.  I colored with copics and fussy cut him and popped him in the middle of the DeNami Designs Graduation Circle. I created a background using Versa Mark ink and a few graduations stamps also from Denami Designs. You can find the sentiment from there as well.
I further embellished this card with some hemp twine laced with a green button (DeNami Designs) and a few sequins. The green cardstock was dry embossed to give the card some added texture.  All papers are using leftovers from my scraps box.

I am joining in the fun at: Crafting With An Attitude - Anything Goes, Always Fun Challenges - Dry Embossing, The Fairy and The Unicorn - Anything Goes, Crafting With Friends - Anything Goes, Jo's Scrap Shack - Anything Goes, Simply Papercraft - Anything Goes, HIMCR - Super Scraps Saturday.
