The Ribbon Reel #49...Spring Cottage...

Hello~

Welcome to another challenge at The Ribbon Reel! I am actually the host and I would like to see you create a card or project using the inspiration photo below, using the colors PINK, YELLOW, AND AQUA, plus ribbon and flowers!

I don't know about you, but I am ready for spring and warmer temps. We have had a mild winter in my parts, but this girl runs on solar power! This card is inspired by all the new things Spring can bring! 

I started by piecing my patterned paper to my yellow embossed cardstock and adding to my card base.  I then added the beautiful trims.  I stamped and heat embossed a bicycle image from Hero Arts.  

Taking inspiration from the photo, I draped down my beautiful Cherry Blossom blooms on the line and added some encouraging sentiments from Paper Sweeties from the Mahalo and You Make Me Smile sets.

Here is your inspiration photo! I feel in love with it as soon as I saw it! I knew instantly I wanted to use this when it was my turn to host!

Guest Designer for Playing In Paradise Challenge 102

(This is my second post of the day for my Paper Sweeties Sketch Challenge Post Click here)

I was fortunate enough to win another challenge at  Playing in Paradise, and I was asked to be a guest designer again. Yay! This week comes with a sketch challenge! 

I started with a pink card base and I applied my pieced patterned papers to the card front following the prompts from the sketch. A few zig zag borders were added to represent the "ocean". I stamped and fussy cut my whale from Hero Arts Oceans of Joy stamp set. I used a heart patterned paper and colored the flowers in with Copic Markers. The sentiment comes from the same set.

A pink zig zag ribbon border was added to the top for an embellishing touch. Lastly a length of pink organza ribbon was tied vertically around the card front and tied off in a fussy bow embellished with an Aqua button from DeNami Designs.

Nuts About You - DeNami Product Spotlight Blog Hop

I started with a card base from DeNami Iridescent Emerald Green. My starting point for the design began by creating an acorn for the sentiment Nuts about You.  

From there, I cut a tag and added some Red and white heart Washi Tape across the top of the tag.  At the bottom of the tag I stamped my remaining three images in the Nuts about You stamp set in Tuxedo Black Ink and colored in with colored pencils and mineral spirits. I used Red 3/8"Grosgrain Ribbon to thread the top of my tag and tied off in a bow using some pink pastel baker's twine.  Once the tag was designed, I then added it to my card front.

Tissue Paper Spiral Flower Tutorial

I have a little tutorial to show you how to reuse that tissue paper leftover from gifts.

My tutorial today will show you using white tissue paper many of us have, and how to add color to get a fun effect. I have made projects using colored tissue paper for a brighter embellishment.

So first gather your supplies you will need…

You will need:

Tissue Paper

Scrap card stock

1 inch hole punch

Glue

Embellishments

A misting spray (i.e. Tattered Angels, Mr. Huey’s etc)

A box (not pictured)

To start take your tissue paper and cut strips about 12 inches by 1 inch and layer them and fold in half. *This step is optional, but I like mine wrinkly, so I balled mine up and then lay flat again.

Take the stack of tissue paper and twist.

Do this all the way to the end.

Next is the fun part!!!  Take your twisted tissue paper and place in a box. (I have used an old shoe box)

Mist the tissue paper till you get the desired color.

Starting at one end take your twisted misted tissue paper and roll in a spiral.

Take a one inch circle punch and your scrap cardstock and punch out your circles to glue your flower to for stability.

Next your flowers are ready for embellishing.

The only additional step I have taken is to die-cut some leaves which I have misted with a light green.

Watch The Sunset

**I am honored that this card was chosen by the City Crafter Design Team for Spotlight Artist Recognition on 6/19/12**

I love anything to do with the beach and this beautiful inspiration photo we have for you this week makes me sigh!

Here is my card today!

My buttons are showing up more aqua/green, but they are from PTI Ocean Tides which is more of a lighter sea blue. I think my camera flash has thrown it off a bit.

This heart started off as a Trader Joe's cracker box. I cut it with my cricut and and embossed to add texture and finished with painting it Vintage Cream and sanded for a weathered look. Some coarse glitter was added giving more texture. 

A postage tag which has had the edges distressed was added above the doily and patterned papers.  The vintage image was adhered at a slight angle to provide more visual interest. A fussy seam binding bow, twine and button were added to the top of the tag along with two Nautilus stick pins.  A pennant banner was added to the top! The final finishing touches include some blue flowers and buttons.

Further inspiration was found at The City Crafter Challenge: Buttons Buttons Buttons use 5 or more buttons.  I have used 9

Hello Sweets!

**Happy that this card was selected as Winner at Playing in Paradise.  I am so appreciative**

An encouraging  and uplifting sentiment.

I started the card by adhering my pieced patterned paper to the Pacific Point card base followed by wrapping a length of vintage seam binding vertically around the card front finishing off with a fussy bow, button and twine adding a pretty pearl to the center of the button. 

The sentiment was carefully stamped on my die-cut focal panels adding a Flower and pearls.  The lower right corner a few  buttons were added as final decorative touch.

I drew my layout inspiration from the Artful Delight Card Sketch Challenge.

And the colors were inspired by Color Throwdown colors of the week. 

My friend Jessi, is hosting the challenge this week at Scrapbooker's Paradise, and I thought I would join in with an encouragement card! :-)
