Thank you for a Soccer Coach...

Hi!

I will start off by saying this is not my favorite card. I think for several reasons, but for starters it's not girly (love pink, buttons, bows, and bling), I had to make a dreaded man card, and I flat out find it hard to find time to craft right now,  This was another make that was done again "stupid late" out of necessity.  Anyway, all who have followed me long enough know I post the good, the bad, and the ugly! Ha!

My son went to another British Soccer Camp, and it was just as great an experience as it was a few months back. Another parent, and I wanted to give the Coach a thank you gift to show our appreciation. She asked if I had a card knowing I "play with paper". Of course my stash of thank you cards are pretty girly.

So here is what I came up with, and I had a little help with the layout mojo thanks to the August Sketch For You To Try.

You know it's handmade when you improvise to make something work!!! I didn't have a Soccer Ball, so using some black glitter paper I used a circle nestie then hand-cut the shapes using white cardstock.  Next I used a white gel pen to fill in the lines. (Didn't use the noggin to realize that the gel pen was not going to turn out pretty on glitter paper.) Oh well, it's homemade with appreciation! :-)))

I believe everything else is self explanatory.

Here is the sketch from SFYTT

Let's just say, I am writing this post stupid late as well...Thanks for hanging in there with me with the good, the bad, and the ugly. Hoping you are having a fabulous summer. Mine continues to be crazy!

Take care,
~Tammy~

Coming from someone who also hates making masculine cards, I think you did a wonderful job! Love it!

A job well done on the dreaded man card, Tammy! I too have difficulty in this area. And it's funny how people (who don't make cards) think that if you do make cards, you can make ANY kind! I try to compare it to fine art painters: would Andrew Wyeth do pop art? Would Van Gogh do something Jackson Pollack would do?

The dreaded man card - and late - and up late - and hot & crazy? I may have run screaming. I love how this turned out - the soccer ball is perfect! And say it with me, "School is starting soon. School is starting soon..." while eating chocolate (or in my case chips) and drinking wine, and the next thing you know, school!

LOL, you are way tooo hard on yourself, Tammy! After your intro, I was secretly steeling myself for something "ugly"........but this isn't "ugly" at all! I think it's fabulous, and a perfect design for a masculine card. Your soccer ball turned out great! I would be sooo stumped for creating one. I love the combo of papers and the bold black and white combo. This is fabulous!
Show us some real "ugly" next time! ;)
