Has the weather been a yo yo in your corner of the world like it has mine? It's cold, it's hot, it's cold, it's warm. We didn't get snow this year, and I think we truly escaped winter, but my poor little one who was born in Hawaii was a bit bummed to not see a real winter or play in the snow. To him, the "cold" we have had which was mild was cold because he's only ever worn shorts everyday of his life till now, but I think we did truly escape it where I lived. We did wake up to quite a chill considering it had been in the upper 80's a few days ago.
Well, I know you didn't come here to read about the weather in Northern Virginia!
I started by stamping a beautiful butterfly image on yellow gingham, check patterned paper and attaching a solid baby blue strip of cardstock trimmed with pinking shears to the right edge of the patterned paper then adhering it to my Kraft card base. I then added a doily to the center stamping the butterfly image one more time directly onto the doily. A length of lavender crochet trim was added vertically to the ride side of my card face. A fussy seam binding bow was added to the upper right corner embellished with a lavender button, twine and memory pin.
A blue packaging tag was added with a heartwarming vintage sentiment from Crafty Secrets. A butterfly was punched from Kraft cardstock and applied to the upper potion of the tag as well as a mini clothespin.
Next was the fun part of embellishing! A little side note: I am a recycling nut: I won't go into details, but I make sure anything that can be recycled is and if I can re-purpuse it first I do. From time to time I make my own embellishments, so I save those cereal boxes and fruit snack boxes. My friend, Laurel, taught me that cereal boxes are great for chipboard needs so she gets the credit and my praise!
Ok, back to the embellishment. I took my cuttlebug postage die and cut it using a medium weight recycled cereal box, and ran it through my Big Shot. I painted it with some white craft paint set to dry then I distressed it using my handy dandy paper sander. I punched a Martha Stewart butterfly from Kraft card stock and painted it using some lavender craft paint and touched it a bit with some white to give it a shabby feel. I finished it off with some micro flakes glitter and applied the butterfly to the postage die and adhered to my card front for a finishing touch!
