Wilson Designs: May 2012 Release Day 2

It's time for day 2 of the Wilson Designs May release countdown.

Yes, another favorite color combination of mine you see quite a bit on my blog! :-) Pink and aqua go together like peanut butter and jelly!  so, I have used 5 stamps today as well on this number. You have possibilities and versatility with this new set. I love the retro vibe!

Letterpress Technique Tutorial

Hello!

**I am thrilled to share that this card was chosen as Papercraft Stars Runner Up and given the Quasar Award**

I have a tutorial to share for Inspired by Stamping. I have had many requests inquiring about the letterpress technique that I use quite a bit in my projects.  It’s a great way to get more mileage out of your embossing folders or impression plates.

So first let’s gather some tools and supplies that you will need.

You will need:

*die-cutting machine such as a Big Shot or Cuttlebug,

*plates

*embossing folder

*brayer

*inkpad

*cardstock 

 

 

Now it’s time to add ink to your brayer by rolling it through your inkpad and then transfer the ink to your embossing folder by rolling the brayer on one side of your embossing folder only.  Depending on which side you choose will depend on the out come of the background giving you two possibilities.

After you have inked up your embossing folder it’s time to carefully place your cardstock on your inked embossing folder careful not to move it.

 

Run through the sandwich of your die-cutting machine.

There you have it!

Edit to note: Cleaning is simply running the embossing folder or plate under the faucet. If you were to use Stayzon then there would be some permanent staining. Some darker colors may stain your folders as well, but will not leave ink that will transfer to future projects. I have not had an issue with staining and I clean them right away and set to dry on a towel.

 Here is my completed card that I am excited to show using the background I have shared above. 

A Close Up of the Sentiment and the letterpress embossing.

An image from THATB was added to the upper left portion of the embossed card front. I drew inspiration from this image to complete the look of this card!

Wilson Designs: May 2012 Release Day 1

It's countdown time to the Wilson Designs Stamp release.  This month I get to help introduce a set that is fun, classic and a little retro! How cool is that?

So let's get right to the project I have to share today because you will need to hop on over to the Wilson Design Team members to see what they have for you!  Be sure to leave ♥love♥ along the way to win this fabulous new set. 

I have used 5 new stamps on this project!!! I used one of my favorite color combinations which is red and aqua.  This would be so cute to invite friends over for a movie night. With summer approaching, outdoor movie nights are a blast.

Hope your Monday is off to a great start!

With Memorial Day Coming up, I have a patriotic card to share today! I am an Army Wife, so Memorial Day has a special meaning to me. Now that we live close to Washington D.C., it is wonderful to be able to go all the memorials for the different Wars as well as Arlington National Cemetery and reflect and show respect to those have who have served and sacrificed.  

Here is my card:

I started with a Kraft card base and added my pieced patterned papers from my stash.  Some lace trim was added.  A postal tag was hand-cut and stamped with a postal Image from IBS Vintage Postcards and some stars from an old Stampin' UP! set called stars and swirls. Another tag was created to tie with the seam binding for a sentiment Thanks for your service by My Pink Stamper. My focal image was stamped on kraft cardstock in Vintage Sepia ink and mounted on cream cardstock trimmed with pinking shears.

For a finishing touch, some buttons and a red glittered star was added.

DeNami Designs Pretty Pastels Blog Hop

So glad to have you along on the DeNami Designs Pretty Pastels Blog Hop.  You should have arrived from Jane's blog...if not and you just wondered in you can begin here.  

Here is my creation for the blog hop!

First I am going to apologize for the dark photograph, it has not been the best of weather this week. This card was started with stamping the Elegant Floral Arch in Stick Candy ink by repeat stamping at the top of the card as well as the bottom of the card. Some patterned papers were pieced together in the center potion of the card front adding some beautiful trimmings.  

A butterfly was die-cut from a recycled cereal box which was then embossed, painted, and sanded.

This butterfly was embellished with a crotched mat and paper rose. A fussy seam binding bow was tied and embellished with a button just above the butterfly. 

A hand-cut banner was created to host the Thinking of You sentiment. For a finishing touch some paper roses and pearls were added to complete the look of this pretty pastel treat!

I hope everyone is off to a fabulous start to your weekend!

I have a quick fun share today primarily inspired by Jay Gee's Inspiration photo! (Which you will find below)

I started with an aqua card base and pieced together my embossed distressed striped white panel to my yellow checked, gingham patterned paper. I just love gingham. I always have....I think I finally retired my well worn yellow checked, gingham dress from Express I have had for ages. I mean the label was an antique not to mention you know it's old because I am thinking yellow gingham is not something you see in there these days.  *sigh*...back to the card! 

A paper doily was added along with three hand-made paper tissue roses adorned with some beautiful pearls. A die-cut tag was made from some fabulous patterned paper by My Mind's Eye layering on another die-cut, a stamped ticket and one fab paper pieced pump which comes from Wilson Designs Glam Squad. Of course I had to add some bling to the pump. :-) Finally an encouraging sentiment was stamped on a hand-cut banner which was embellished with a few pearls.

Inspiration explanation: I created the three tissue flowers based on the three tissue hangings in the first photo and my embossed upper panel reminds me of the white paneling in that first photograph. I brought in the soft aqua from the wall in the second as well as in the button collection.

May Every Sunrise Hold More Promise

Hello Lovelies!

**I am thrilled to share that this card was chosen as Papercraft Stars Runner Up and given the Quasar Award as well as The City Crafter's Spotlight Artist**

I have a quick share for you today inspired by a few challenges that gave me the opportunity to play with some new goodies from Inspired By Stamping and Authentique.  Gray and yellow is a popular combination right now from papercrafting to Home decor, so I thought I would join in. :-)))

I started out with a Whisper White Card base and pieced together my pattern papers from Authentique.   Some crochet trim was added and a doily was hand-dyed and stamped with an image from  Inspired By Stamping - Paris  The doily was then embellished with a variety of buttons around the image which was inspired by Cheryl. :-)

A spellbinders Label 3 was die-cut and stamped with the complimentary Fancy Labels 3 adding an encouraging sentiment from Amazing Inspirations.   Three roses were added to the upper right corner for a finishing decorative touch!

IBSIC #9 - Inspiration Photo Challenge

**Edit to note: Yipee! This card was selected at TOP THREE at The Kraft Journal**

The sentiment was stamped on a digital image from The House Across The Bay which was then layered on a handmade chipboard tag I created from a recycled cereal box.  It was run through my crimper to give the corrugated cardboard appearance then painted and sanded. 

Flowers from my stash was added to the top of the tag. I love using tickets to stamp images and sentiments on my cards! :-)

I am personally adding this to The Kraft Journal - Thank You challenge.

Follow Your Bliss

Hey there!

I have a fun little card to share and a bit clean from my usual style of late. I had a little fun with my oval punch and created this flower using some gingham papers in my stash! :-)))

I was further inspired by the sketch over at Mojo Monday.  I substituted the circle for the bloom I created  and added the hand-cut banner at the bottom with a sentiment from Inspired By Stamping Inspiring Sentiments.

The butterfly was punched and embossed and some bling added to the center!

Merry Monday #20

(Woo Hoo all the hard work to create this card paid off as it was chosen the winner At Merry Monday)

Good Grief do you ever have one of those days that everything you do just takes you forever because it's one interruption after the other and then.....THE POWER GOES OUT! R E A L L Y ???  NOW??? We are having yucky weather, but not thunderstorms, so I have no idea what is up with the power outage. Just glad to have modern electricity again!!!

I love Lesley's sketches because they are simple, but my goodness this card has taken forever and a day to complete. Most people would have been like - it's a sign give up, but I am always determined to finish what I start! I just never knew something so simple could be so complicated! ha! 

So here is the simple complicated card! :-) So forgive the brevity of the post as I want to get this up.

Obviously, I am not happy with the photograph as the weather is crummy, but the Aqua bling on the gingham whimsical tree is so cute! I love Aqua and red together and that is how we roll at Christmas around this house. The papers are from Martha Stewart. 

The sentiment is from Wilson Designs Snowy Wishes. 

As stated in my earlier babbling I was inspired by Lesley's Merry Monday's Christmas Sketch. 

I am also joining in the Moxie Fab Gingham Challenge: Who doesn't have a Whimsical Gingham Christmas Tree with aqua bling and a silver tinsel star??? :-))))
