Festive Friday Merry Christmas...

Hi all!

{This is my second post of the day, for my DeNami Designs Tutorial post click here.}

It's one day before June, and I am bringing to the ol blog my first Christmas Card of the year. Many of you have had a jump start on this, and I am late to the game. I would still be in good shape by December if I could keep up the rest of the year, but I am pretty sure that is not going to happen! :-) It's also hard to get in the Holiday mood when it's in the 90's. One week ago, I had to grab my winter coat, and now we have hit the hot and humid climate of summer! (I guess we skipped spring) Oh Mother Nature! :-)

Here is my Festive Christmas card to share!

I started with a Kraft Cover Weight base onto which I added my patterned papers from Authentique's Festive line. I took part of a doily and added to the bottom half of where the papers divide followed by adding a length of May Art's shear gold trim to the center.  

In gold, I stamped and embossed my Ornament from Waltzingmouse stamps onto red cardstock and then die-cut it with the coordinating Spellbinder die. I stamped Merry Christmas onto green cardstock in gold ink and heat embossed and added to my ornament after I hand-cut into a banner.  

A bow was tied from cream grosgrain ribbon trimming the ends with pinking shears. I die-cut some Holly Leaves which I scored down the centers for dimension adding to the center of the bow finishing off with a button and twine. Finishing touches include, crochet trim, a German Glass Glitter Star embellished with button and twine and pearls.

{So stinkin' Excited that this card was chosen winner of TSTR on June 3rd...}

I have a sweet little card to share today! When I should be cleaning up...I end up playing! *grin*.  I pulled out my sweet little Paper Sweeties and got inky! I needed another stress reliever anyway! 

Here it is!

I started off with a white card base and I rounded the top corners. I followed by adding the yellow patterned paper to the card base after I rounded the top corners to match.  I stamped a banner from Paper Sweeties Fun Shapes and hung with some pretty Baker's twine in the upper left portion of the card.  I gave Abigail a dress from Jelly Bean Time and gave her a watering can to hold from May's release Live Love Grow. 

On some carnival tickets, I stamped the sentiments Bloom from Live Love Grow and Inspire from Beautiful.  Lastly I pleated some aqua satin ribbon from my stash embellishing with yellow buttons and twine.  I created a fluffy handmade flower from tissue paper to complete the look.

The Kraft Journal #123 Use Any Sketch.

Good Morning!

{Woohoo, this card was selected as Top 3 at Craftin' Desert Diva's on 6/9/13...thank you I am honored}

For today's "Use Any Sketch" challenge at The Kraft Journal, I followed the sketch from The Paper Loft. I used a base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight onto which I layered a white embossed honeycomb panel. I distressed the edges for a shabby feel.  Next I used papers from the Kraft & Black Cardstock Pad, C-Flute Corrugated Kraft Paper which I painted white and distressed with the sander, and then I used the Old Newpaper Washi Tape  on the circles.  Before adding the circles to the embossed panel, I took a length of Black Twill Tying Tape and wrapped it around the card face horizontally and tied in a bow adding another bow made from Natural Hemp Cord embellished with a white paper rose. 

My final finishing touch was adding a handmade burlap rose and leaves which has a Memo Pin holding a Chipboard Flag Piece with coordinating Flag Banner Sticker for my stamped DeNami sentiment.

The Ribbon Reel #54 - Thanks

Hi and Good Evening!

Welcome to another bi-weekly challenge at The Ribbon Reel! It's Jeanne's turn to host and she ask us to use the colors in the inspiration photo - Violet and Green add ribbon and a flower. 

Here is my take:

I used a sentiment from Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler inside of my chipboard frame that I cut using my Cricut from a recycled cereal box. I painted the frame with white acrylic paint which I sanded. A final touch to the frame was adding some chunky glitter and a button.

Paper Smooches Sparks - Celebrate

(Thank You Paper Smooches Sparks DT for the shout out! I am honored, Thank you to the My Craft Spot DT for Top 3 selection)

It's Memorial Day Weekend in the States, and it's time for us to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed for freedom not only for the USA, but others. 

I have a little card to share. I was completely inspired by the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge this go around and this is what I came up with. 

I started with a Lunch Bag Kraft card base onto which I layered my white cardstock and patterned papers. I took a length of white seam binding and tied off in a fussy bow embellished with a button and twine. 

At this point, I started building the center focal image of layers! 

I paper-pieced the ice cream from Paper Smooches Sugar Rush adding to my oval die-cuts and embellished with some glittery stickles and a button. I added some ribbon snippets which I banner cut the ends and placed between my star and focal image finally layering on the red die-cut. 

Lastly, I stamped Celebrate onto a half decorative oval and placed at the top of my card. 

As mentioned, I found inspiration at Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge.

Monster Size Birthday...

Good Friday Morning!

I am sorry I have been pretty absent making the rounds as of late! I've had a lot of extra "stuff" on my plate! I did a little de-stress card making to try and unwind before bed last night. Not sure it was the best idea to try and craft when I was up so late. I needed more kiddo birthday cards especially ones that are fit for a boy.  Clean and Simple is all that I could "monster" up! Eek, it's stupid early with little sleep and I am using corny puns! 

Here is my super simple card! I am also keeping this post super simple! :-)

I used Monster Fun from Hero Arts. I gave him a blue eye by using a dew drop. Some fun striped paper and a ric rac border. This is definitely not my typical card, but for kiddo birthdays I usually keep them simple.

Graduation Set - DeNami Product Spotlight Blog Hop

I am back with some more Graduation Inspiration since my last post on Monday!

Starting with a Sky Blue card base (on sale), I added a piece of striped designer paper at the top and rounded the bottom corners. I then stamped out the various images from the Graduation Cling stamp set using Tuxedo Black, Satin Red Versafine, and Deep Lagoon Versafine inks.  I used a 3/4 and 1 inch circle punch for the images and arranged them along the middle around the die-cut star.  I stamped and colored the Graduation Owl inside the Demi Dot Circle Frame.  Finally I added the Small Congratulations sentiment in the lower right corner of the card.

The Kraft Journal #122 Celebrations - Graduation Card

Good Monday Morning!

For today's "Celebrations" challenge at The Kraft Journal, I chose to make a graduation card.  It's that time of year for Grads and Dads. It sure seems like time is just flying right on by! I started with a Brown Kraft Cover Weight cardstock as the base onto which I added my pieced patterned papers from my stash of scraps. 

I added a gray die-cut trim to the left side of the card front next adding a doily to go underneath the Grungy Stained Hangtag which has a layer of Vintage Dictionary Pages and stamped images from DeNami Designs.  I used the Graduation Owl which has been colored with Copics and the Cling Graduation Set.  The sentiment Congrats is from the Thoughtful Greeting Stamp Set. 

I  further embellished the tag by adding some buttons and a paper bloom. My final finishing touch includes adding a length of Natural Twill Tape which I tied off in a bow embellished with a button and Natural Hemp Cord.

Starting with a cream card base, I added my distressed stamped patterned paper. I created this by bleach stamping using the Elegant Floral stamp and Mini Swirl Flourish stamp. Before applying to the card base, I distressed the edges for a shabby feel. I created two square focal panels and I used the Large Scallop Circle, Garden Bouquet which I have masked the stem and bow. From the Love Sentiments stamp set, I added the You're Special to the lower right in the circle.

I used the Elegant Floral Arch in the lower left panel. A row of DeNami Boutique Buttons was added which has been threaded with twine. A final embellishing touch was adding a pretty flower and leaves.

10 Minute Craft Dash - Thinking of You!

It's been awhile since I have participated in a challenge let alone the 10 Minute Craft Dash. I have not had a lot of crafty time lately. I intended to do some sorting and cleaning in my crafty space, but whenever I walk in I would rather...well...craft then sort or clean, so that is what I did. 

I love to layer, use multiple stamps, piece my backgrounds with patterned paper, but I have to let all that go when I take this challenge. I have not yet found the quick grove to add all those things under 10.  So, I started with a basic layout in my head and pulled my supplies for that. It's the only way I can remotely pull this challenge off each time. I am a slow crafter. 

So here are the supplies I started with:

So here's the funny thing...I got a little cocky this time. I was so excited that I nearly finished my card in  7 minutes I just had to add "more", so I had to dig out my flowers and heat up the ol' glue gun.  The hysterical part was I had to cut the flowers off the wire, so wouldn't you know that it went flying behind the desk, and there I was on my hands and knees looking for this lost rosebud (which I am sure would not be a pretty sight anyone walking in my room about that time) and do you think I could find it...NO....so I cut another and darn if the same thing doesn't happen again...you would think I learned my lesson from the first time. When it comes to my embellishments, I do not like any unaccounted for little pretties. :-)))) So that pushed my time with less than 1 minute to spare! Silly me! Another reason to have all possible supplies pulled!! :-))

I started with a lavender card base onto which I added my patterned paper. Next the doily was added to the center followed by adhering a strip of patterned paper to the center.  I then die-cut my label and stamped the frame and sentiment and added to the center.  After examining the buttons I pulled, I tried to find two as close in color and size as possible, but most crafters know that is nearly impossible. Since I was really good on time at this point, I decided to add some button twine before adhering them in place. 

Lastly, as I have explained enters the flowers. The stamps I used on this card is Waltzingmouse Stamps: Compact Sentiments and Vintage Labels 10.

Final time to completion was: 9:23

Something else that I have been up to is making snack bags for baseball. Here is a close-up. It's not in me to handover a plain brown bag! :-)  

I used DeNami Designs: All Star Chickie Stamp Set, Sports Balls Stamp Set, and All Star Greeting Stamp Set.  The Glove was cut using my cricut.

Waltzingmouse Blog Party - May Teacher Appreciation

Hi all!  I am joining in for this months Waltzingmouse Blog Party! The theme this month is Teacher Appreciation.  

Here is what I have created for today's hop.

On a Buff Ivory card base, I layered my pieced patterned papers which are all from my scrap pile.  I die-cut a gingham apple using my Cricut which I have added to the center of  the stamped Labels 1 die using Very Vintage Labels 1.  I framed the apple focal image, using a die-cut from Decorative Labels 1.

I took a length of black satin ribbon and wrapped it around the left side of the card front and tied in a bow embellishing with a button and adding a triple twine bow. Lastly, I stamped my sentiment from Fancy Phrases to a banner and added to upper right of the card face.

Paper Sweeties May Post Release and Rewind

The Kraft Journal - Mini Twine Pompom tutorial

It's my turn to do a tutorial at The Kraft Journal.  This will be my last one for awhile as I am taking a few months off starting in June.  

I am going to share with you how to make pom pom's out of Baker's Twine that can be purchased from The Kraft Outlet.  

Let's get started shall we?

You only need a few supplies, but I am going to also give a supply list for the final card.

For the pompom's you will need

Baker's Twine from The Kraft Outlet

A Fork

Scissors

Products for Final Card

Brown Craft Cover Weight Cardstock

Jenni Bowlin Memo Book

Tim Holtz Journaling Tickets

Crayons

Patterned Paper

Stamps

Button

To start, wrap the Baker's Twine around the fork tines several times. I am demonstrating mini pompoms here, so I only used two of the four fork tines. {Say that 10 times fast :-)))} Depending on how big you want the pompoms depends on how many to use. 

After you have wrapped it around multiple times, tie the twine in the middle and make sure it's tight. 

After you pull it off the fork, you want to double check and make sure it's good and secure by pulling on the ends. 

Next you will put your scissors through the loops at the end and cut. 

Repeat on the other side.

Now fluff your pompoms.
