Paper Sweeties July Inspiration Challenge #21

Hello friends! It's time for another Paper Sweeties Inspiration Challenge. The Sweeties team is ready for you to join in and celebrate with us. This month's theme is Patriotic Prints. We want you to be inspired by the colors and the photograph.

I started the card with a Kraft cardstock base. I then added some patterned papers from my random scrap pile and added a bit of cream paint for a vintage touch. I stamped Happy from Occasions onto a banner and added to the upper left corner. 4th of July was added in red ink to the bottom right corner and can be found in the Happy Everything stamp set. A vintage Bingo card was added along with some stitched stars. Finally a length of red twill ribbon was tied around the card front embellished with a button and baker's twine.

The Kraft Journal - Red White And Blue

Good Monday Morning to you!

This week at The Kraft Journal we have a new challenge for you, and it's RED, WHITE, and BLUE!

I started with a base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock. I layered an embossed Star panel to the Buff Ivory Cardstock panel which I stamped God Bless America. The sentiment is from DeNami Designs. I added a scallop border piece of patterned paper from my stash where the pieces joined.

I cut out a fire-cracker using a file from the Silhouette store. I just used red and blue papers and of course Buff Ivory Cardstock. I die-cut an oval from Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock which I embossed using a woodgrain plate. Next I nested it onto a fancy scallop cut from Buff Ivory Cardstock. Final finishing touches include adding some red and blue rhinestones to the firecracker.

I kept this one pretty flat and easy for mailing. :-)

Patriotic Hello

Hello Friends~

{*So Stinkin' Excited This was a Designer Challenge Winner at My Creative Time on 7/10/14*}

Summer is in full swing in our neck of the woods. Sorry I have been absent from making my rounds. I haven't had a lot of extra crafty time, but I did sneak in my very messy craft room and made a patriotic card to prepare for mailing for the upcoming holiday.

For my card, I used the current sketch and color inspiration from My Creative Time Designer Challenge.

I started by stamping the Hexy Background onto a piece of Kraft cardstock and distressed the edges and added it to my card base. I added some Natural Jute Ribbon to the card front topping it with a piece of red star patterned paper. Then I took a length of Blue Baker's Twine and wrapped it several times and tied it in a bow.

Next I die-cut some stars using My Creative Time, 3 Star Stiched dies, as well as the arrow and small stars from 4 x 4 Journal Die + More. The Hello sentiment can be found in the My Creative Time set Floral Sentiments. After adding all the stars, I added some random sequins in red, blue and gold to the card front.

As mentioned, inspiration was found at My Creative Time Designer Challenge.

Watch Us Wednesday - Vintage Dictionary Pages - Altered House

Hello Friends,

{This house received Top Honors at Decorate To Celebrate on 7/9/14.}

It's my turn to spotlight a product over on The Kraft Journal blog hosted by The Kraft Outlet. Today I am featuring Vintage Dictionary Pages. I love using this product on projects and I have used it more than I count. I reflect back over a few at the end of this post.

I have had this house sitting in my craft room for awhile to alter. I started by giving the house a base coat of vintage white acrylic paint. I sanded the edges and corners for a rustic look. Next, I measured the front and cut the Vintage Dictionary Pages to size leaving the edges/corners showing. I used a coating of Royal Coat to secure it to the house.

The rest is just having fun dressing up and designing as you see fit. All items I used today were either scraps or items I have had in my stash for awhile. Such as these Patriotic Sticker embellishments. I thought they looked fun enough to be "windows". The door is a stamped from Paper Sweeties Cottage Elements.

I incorporated the Vintage Dictionary Pages throughout the house. I decided to leave the back as is, and I like it. I love having the flag on the back of the roof!

Several Sapphire boutique buttons were added to the roof along with chunky glitter and lace trim.

The Kraft Journal #177 Color Challenge - Smile

Hi Friends,

For today's color Challenge at The Kraft Journal, I looked at the inspiration photo and decided to start with images from The Journey Stamp Set by Precious Remembrance. What a special moment in time to be captured, so I thought of the camera in that set.

I started my card off with a card base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock. I layered a beautiful piece of patterned paper over the base. I took a smaller layer of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock to which I added a film strip background using Versamark Ink to give a tone on tone subtle appearance.

Next I took a piece of yellow cloud patterned paper and cut it into a banner adding it to the left side of the Brown Kraft Cover Weight piece. I then added a Mini Gypsy Ephemera Label which I stamped the stars image in Kraft Ink. I anchored these pieces with Old Newspaper Washi Tape. Next I added the stamped paper-pieced camera image giving it a handle with some Yellow and White Baker's Twine. I stamped the smile sentiment on a black and white sticker label. For a final finishing touch I added dainty pink and yellow roses.

The Kraft Journal #176 Shabby Chic

Happy Happy Monday!

This is my 2nd post of the day, for my Paper Sweeties Release Rewind click here.}

For this week's Shabby Chic challenge at The Kraft Journal this week, I had fun using lots of goodies from The Kraft Outlet.

I started with a Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock onto which I added my patterned paper I found in my scrap pile that I thought worked well. Before the patterned paper was added I brushed a touch of cream paint to shabby the cardstock up a bit. I added a Large Kraft Shipping tag to the center of the card adding more cream paint to the edges. A length of Strawberry Shortcake Bias Tape was wrapped around the card front and tied in a bow securing a Sand Boutique button with Pink Baker's Twine.

Next using Buff Ivory Cardstock, I layered a scalloped die-cut circle adding coarse glitter to the outside edges for a decorative touch. My next layer consisted of a Canvas Corp corrugated Flute Tile which I used to die-cut a heart and I added more paint. Continuing on with more die-cuting now using Lunch Bag Kraft Text Weight Paper and a circle from Buff Ivory Cardstock. Not too noticeable in the picture, I used DeNami Designs Solid Rose Accents in the center circle. All these layers make a beautiful foundation for her layered butterfly cut from Vintage Dictionary Pages. Lastly, I stamped the Thank you sentiment from DeNami Designs onto a piece of Natural Twill Tape and fastened with a few small staples.

Paper Sweeties June Release Countdown!

Hello there!

I'm back today with another Paper Sweeties card to share as we countdown the days to the new release! Just like yesterday, the team is having a hop to share with you some inspiration using the new sets to be released on June 15th at 12:00 a.m. EST.

I created a card using a color combination I love seeing together. *smile*. How sweet are those two birds sitting on that love branch? This set comes from Splish Splash. That sentiment is the sweetest. You can use this for a wedding or anniversary card or make to give to your own lovey! :-)
