Summer Birthday {The Kraft Journal}

Good Morning Friends,

It's the first day of school here, but I am still hanging on to summer as long as I can!

Today, I have a new card to share with you this week for The Kraft Journal's Color Challenge. I took the color inspiration literally "Watermelon" I started by using Blackboard Stock Paper for the card base which I layered a red cardstock and a black and white polka dot patterned paper.

I took a length of Red Baker's Twine and wrapped it around the card front several times tying off in a bow. I stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment (My Creative Time) in a stitched oval label die (MCT) and placed just above the Red Baker's Twine.  Next I die-cut some decorative layered label dies to be the backdrop for the watermelon. I used the Preserves Cricut Cartridge to cut it out.

Here is the color inspiration for this week.

Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your Color Inspiration creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

Have a fantastic week!

The Kraft Journal - CAS - Thank you!

I tried to keep the new challenge this week at The Kraft Journal CAS-Thank You, as clean as I could, but CAS is not the easiest challenge for me.

I started with a card base of Brown Kraft Cover weight cardstock onto which I added a navy star embossed layer. To the right, I stamped some baseballs (DeNami Design) using Versamark Ink onto a narrow Brown Kraft panel and added it to the right side of the card. I took a length of Red Baker's Twine and wrapped it around the right side of the card front and tied in a double bow where the papers meet. I die-cut the word grateful (My Creative Time) in red cardstock and added to the bottom of the navy star embossed panel.  I then used the Silhouette machine to die-cut the Washington Nationals Curly W which I placed on a die-cut layer.

Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your CAS-Thank You creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

So Tweet of You - {The Kraft Journal}

Hello There!

This week at The Kraft Journal the new challenge is Birds.  I started with a card base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock which I layered pieced patterned papers together leaving the bottom of the A2 size card exposed to a thin space of Kraft.  In black ink, I stamped "So Tweet of you" (Wilson Designs) to the lower right corner. Next I took a Brown Kraft Tag and stamped small butterfly images (DeNami Design) in Versa Mark Ink to create a subtle background.

Once the stamping was done, I added Natural Twill Tape to the top of the tag next adding the prepped tag to the card front horizontally in the center. Next I took a Vintage Black Journaling Card that has a bird on it to the left of the card front.  I die-cut a decorative circle in gray cardstock adding a punched scallop circle from Vintage Dictionary Pages to the center. I used my Cricut machine to cut out the bird using the Wall Decor and More cartridge by cutting it out three times with Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock and gluing them on top of the other to form a replica of chipboard. Next I cut the bird one more time from gray patterned paper and glued it to the top of the prepped chipboard piece adding it to the right of the decorative circle. In the center I added a multi-loop bow created from Earthy Hemp Cord adding a resin pink flower to the center to complete the card.

Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your Bird creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

A Note of Thanks {The Kraft Journal}

Good Day to you!

I love making school themed cards and this week's Take Your Pick challenge is perfect for that. I started with a card base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock which I layered with an alphabet patterned paper leaving the bottom of the kraft exposed. I stamped a Reverse Confetti sentiment in the lower right corner in black ink. I took a length of Natural Twill Tape and wrapped it around the card front where the patterned paper ended tying the ends off with a bow of Dark Green Baker's Twine and a red button.

Using Buff Ivory Cardstock, I created an Alpha embossed background for the focal image punching the bottom to create a notebook look.  I then wrapped more Dark Green Baker's Twine around the card a few time and tied off in a bow.  Next adding the apple that was cut using my Cricut and the Preserves Cartridge by using various patterned papers, Buff Ivory Cardstock and Blackboard Stock Paper. For a final finishing touch, I added a small double bow at the top of the apple created with Dark Green Baker's Twine.

Here is the Take Your Pick Inspiration for this week.
Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your Take Your Pick creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

Welcome Back To School - {The Kraft Journal}

Good Monday to you!

Hard to believe we have hit the first Monday in August. The summer is flying right on by and the kiddos will be heading back to school soon.

To help you get ready, we have a "Back to School" challenge at The Kraft Journal this week.
I started with a card base of Blackboard Stock Paper onto which I layered the pieced school themed papers. I tied a length of Red Baker's Twine around where the pieces meet and tied in a bow. I then took one of The Kraft Outlet's Yellow Library Card and stamped some number and the date (My Creative Time) before adding it at an angle to the card front. Next I die-cut a stitched rectangle (My Creative Time) from Blackboard Stock Paper to which I stamped a Welcome Back to school sentiment and apple (My Creative Time) using the chalkboard technique. I then placed it at an angle on the Yellow Library Card.  Lastly I cut a pencil (My Creative Time) from Brown Kraft Cardstock and decorated it with other papers from my stash of scraps and added it to the card.

Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your Back to School creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

Have a great week!
