TKJ#195 Ugly Paper :-)

How about that title? That's right, we want to see you brake out some ugly paper and use it on your projects this week. We all have it. I have plenty. I have bought paper pads that have pretty paper sheets that also have paper in there that just doesn't do it for me. The snippets you see below being some of them.

For today's Ugly Paper Challenge at The Kraft Journal, I used some that I have not been fond of, but in small doses it doesn't make for a bad card. :-)

I started with a Kraft Brown Cardstock base onto which I matted an embossed layer of Kraft Brown Cardstock.  I then aligned those "ugly paper" patterned pieces to the center of the card using foam adhesive.

Using Buff Ivory Cardstock, I die-cut a thicker width banner and ink distressed the edges using Vintage Photo Ink getting it ready for a sentiment.  Next I used a word die-cut from My Creative Time using the coordinating "ugly papers" and added to the center.  Lastly, I wrapped some Brown Baker's Twine around the end and tied in a bow adding to the center of the papers to complete my card.

Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your "Ugly Paper" creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

Have a Fantastic week!

Trick Or Treat with Green Slime Popcorn {Trendy Twine}

Good Saturday Morning to you!

I am excited to share one last Halloween Project as a Trendy Twine Little Sister on the Trendy Twine Blog using Grape Limeade Trendy Twine
I made a treat holder using a file I bought in the Silhouette Store. I paper pieced and assembled the holder.  Next I gave my friendly witch a darling twine bow using Grape Limeade Trendy Twine. Isn't she cute?
I cooked up some wickedly addictive "Green Slime" Popcorn to put in a treat bag which I tied off with a DeNami Design Boutique Button, tag, and Grape Limeade Trendy Twine.  The stamped sentiment is from My Creative Time Fright Night set. I just had to add a black spider for fun! :-) Perfect, for teachers, neighbors, coaches...you name it!

So, I hope you enjoyed my last inspiration project using the fabulous Grape Limeade Trendy Twine.

Halloween Beware Banner

In case you missed it, I am sharing a project I made last week for the What's Hot Wednesday segment at The Kraft Journal using some fine products from The Kraft Outlet and paying special focus on Buff Ivory Cardstock.  It's a very durable 80lb cover weight linen weave stationary grade texture that stamps beautifully as well as a great base for many crafting projects.

I created a Halloween Banner to hang from a mirror in my family room.
I started by stamping 6 pennant pieces from Just Rite O Christmas Tree onto Buff Ivory Cardstock and die-cutting them using a coordinated die.  Don't be afraid to look at all your supplies for all your project needs. It's a great way to stretch your dollar. In this case, I knew I would only see the background which was not "Christmas"

Next I created 6 paper rosettes using Buff Ivory Cardstocto add to the center of each of the pennant pieces. The next layer is 6 die-cut stars from Blackboard Stock Paper.
I took some foam letters and ran them through my Xyron Machine and added orange glitter to spell out the word BEWARE.

I used Butter Bias Tape and dyed it with an orange spray mist and hung to dry. Once dry, I punched holes in each corner of the pennant to lace my custom dyed Bias Tape through tying each end in a fluffy bow.
I decorated with buttons laced with Black Baker's Twine in each of the corners.
I hope you have enjoyed this project. It was fun to put together.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Kraft Journal #194 "Boo" A Color Challenge

Hello Friends!

This week at The Kraft Journal we have a color challenge. It was trickier than I thought it would be, but I always love a challenge. I am not real happy with my card, but you win some and you lose some. :-)
For my card, I decided to start with Blackboard Stock Paper for the base which I followed by adding the patterned paper to the base. I then die-cut a star and placed it at an angle peeking out from beneath the stamped Kraft Shipping Tag using images from DeNami Design.
The Boo sentiment as well as the vintage image are both from the Tim Holtz Salvage Sticker - Seasonal Book.  I embellished with Prima flowers from my stash, a glittered button, and a bow made from the Pastel Hemp Cord collection.  I added three black rhinestones to the upper left corner.

Below is the color challenge to inspire you to play along with us this week.
Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your "Color Challenge" creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Ghostly Greetings!

Hi!

*Super Excited that this card was the My Creative Time Designer Challenge Winner on 11/13/14 Yay! I am always honored and blessed! Thank You!*

How are you on this fine morning!?! I am behind in my Halloween card making this year.  I thought I would give the Designer Challenge a try at My Creative Time

So here it goes...using lots of goodies from My Creative Time online store.
I began with a white card base, and I added a strip of patterned paper to the left hand side of the card front. I vertically wrapped a length of black checked gingham ribbon around the card where the patterned paper ended and tied in a bow further embellishing with Yellow Baker's Twine and an orange button.
I used a Halloween Journaling card from my stash, and I added it to the bottom of the card front adding a few enamel dots to the lower corner. The rest of the products used to complete the card are all from My Creative Time and the supply list is below.

Here is the Inspiration photo!
I am also sharing this card at 3GirlJam - Halloween, Aloha Friday Challenge - Dies or Punches, FabnFunky - Anything with Ribbon, Simply Create Too - Halloween, Craftin' Desert Divas - Halloween.

Last weekend I created a card for Trendy Twine and only giving a sneak on my blog. I received many emails about the card, so I thought I would share it here and give further product information.

As you can see, I used a Small Glassine Bag on the front of my card to serve as a pocket to hold the Halloween Greeting tag I made using Grape Limeade Trendy Twine to embellish the top.

Using a Small Glassine Bag is a fun and interactive way to dress up a card, and the recipient can use the tag as a bookmark or pass along to someone else when they want to dress up a package.  Extra goodies are from Michael's (Sequins and Spider)

All the dies and stamped images to create this card came from My Creative Time!

A Treat Just For You {Trendy Twine}

Hi ya friends,

I am over on the Trendy Twine Blog today with a fun little treat I created for Halloween featuring Grape Limeade Trendy Twine and a Shorty Candy Chute.

Here is what I made:
I started by decorating a Shorty Candy Chute filled with a few Shimmery Lime Gumballs using the awesome Grape Limeade Trendy Twine.   I created a small stamped tag and tied it to the chute and embellished it with a few purple jingle bells before tying it off in a bow. I created a holder to package my Shorty Candy Chute by hand. I decorated the outside using a background stamp from My Creative Time Fright Night and cuts using the Mini Monster and Doodlecharms Cartridge. The cutie face on the spider comes from Peachy Keen Stamps Simple Sallies Face Assortment.

I use Grape Limeade Trendy Twine to keep the flap close.  To open, you just slip out the front cover.

The picture below shows how the treat sits in the holder.
I just pushed the twine down a bit so that you could read the enclosed sentiment. To close, you just slide the twine up a bit and bring your front flap down. Your twine is what keeps the flap closed. It's not only decorative, but it serves a purpose! That's some bang for your buck! :-)

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge

Hello~

Popping on quickly sharing another sympathy card. :-(  This time I used a sketch from Monday Lunchtime Sketch for inspiration.

I was flipping through several paper pads and I decided to use a K & Company Paper Pad I have had for ages. It always feels great to give life to some neglected supplies. In fact, everything on this card has come from things I have had in my stash for a long time.

I started with a blue card base. Not sure the name of it, but I know it's from Stampin' UP! (More than likely a retired color.) I layered my patterned papers on Bisque textured cardstock. I followed the layout of the sketch for placement, but I did take some creative liberty with the sentiment and bow.
The sentiment is from My Craft Spot Jar Full of Flowers set

Here is the sketch from Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge

Thanks for popping by! Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Retro Sketches -With Deepest Sympathy

Good Tuesday Morning!

Unfortunately, I find myself in need of a few sympathy cards this week. As stated before, it's one of those cards I intend to make ahead, but somehow don't get around to doing it. They are just hard for me to make, and I would rather not think about having the need for one. This week, I need two.

So, with a little help today from Retro  Sketches for inspiration...here is my first card. The other will be in the works shortly.
I started with a card base of Buff Ivory Cover Weight Cardstock which has been embossed. I distressed the edges with Vintage Photo ink. The patterned paper is from Graphic 44. The sentiment (Stampabilities) is stamped on a die-cut circle using Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock. The circle die is from My Creative Time. I had a chipboard butterfly that I painted and distressed finally adding some chunky glitter before adding it to my card front. I added a few embellishing touches by adding small Kraft pearls to the circle and a satin rose to the center of the butterfly.

The challenge at Retro Sketches is to use a sketch of your choice from their archives.  I chose Retro Sketch #56.
Thank you for stopping in. Hope you have a terrific Tuesday!

The Kraft Journal #192 - No Patterned Paper

Good Monday Morning Friends!

{Yay! Happy that this cutie was winner over at My Craft Spot challenge #154 on 10/15/14}

I have a fun Halloween card for you today for our new challenge at The Kraft Journal.  This week's challenge is "No Patterned Paper". We ask that you use Kraft on your project or products from The Kraft Outlet. As you can see, I have no Kraft this week, but I have a few other products on my card that The Kraft Outlet carries.
I started with a pumpkin orange card base which I layered with coordinating pinking shear die-cut mats from Simon Says Stamp. For the black base, I used Blackboard Stock Paper.  I used the letterpress technique for the spider web embossing. I did a tutorial awhile back you can check out here if you are interested in learning how to added color to your embossed impressions.
I used my Cricut to cut out this cute little monster from the Mini Monster cartridge at 3 1/2 inches and paper pieced him together and applied him to the center of the black spider web mat. All black pieces you see were cut using Blackboard Stock Paper.  I cut the pumpkin treat holder at 1 1/2 inches. A knotted White Twill Tape bow was added to the top embellished with an orange button laced with Orange Baker's Twine to complete the card.

Please be sure to head over to the The Kraft Journal to check out the projects by the other talented ladies.  We hope to see your "No Patterned Paper" creations in the gallery this week for your chance to be featured on our "Feature me Friday" post as well as be entered to win a $15.00 gift voucher from The Kraft Outlet store.

I hope you have a super wonderful week!

Trendy Twine October Challenge ~ Boo-tiful Tags & Treats

Good Morning!

Welcome to the October Challenge with Trendy Twine!  Our theme this month is Boo-tiful Tags & Treats. We would like to see your Halloween Treat creations with a tag and of course Trendy Twine! (No other brands of baker's twine) Please use hemp, jute, or embroidery thread only if you do not currently own Trendy Twine. Better yet you can head over to the store here and pick up some today!

Now onto my project!
I used the Small Candy Rectangle Clear Box (Which comes in packs of 10) and filled with some festive candy corn!  I wrapped the box with Grape Limeade Trendy Twine multiple times. I cut a layered scalloped tag with my electronic cutting machine, and trimmed the inner layer with more yummy Grape Limeade Trendy Twine.  Before adhering to the packaging, I stamped my sentiment to the front.

I wanted to create a mini-card to go along with my little treat, so I cut a vampire out using the Mini Monster Cartridge. I stamped a sentiment that I thought was quite fitting to go in the lower right corner, and punched out some drippy goo from patterned paper and added to the top. I completed the card by wrapping Grape Limeade Trendy Twine around the top of the card and tied off in a bow.

The challenge will run from October 2nd through October 24th! I would LOVE to see you play along with us! Don't forget to check out the rest of the design team on the Trendy Twine Blog! You will be inspired no doubt!
