A One Layer Birthday Card

Hello to all my crafty friends out there!

Well, I did it again. I entered a challenge which doesn't exactly scream "hey girl, break out the ribbons, buttons, and bling." My follow up to the "Man Card" is nature inspired, and one layered. Although I have no problem getting on board with simplicity, I have to fight the urge to add something three dimensional to my cards:-)

Here is my nature inspired one layer card for One-Layer Wednesday Challenge 21. Aww Simplicity!
Thanks for dropping by today!
Warm aloha!

Hey there Cuties!

Here is my follow up to the dreaded "man card" on my last post. To compensate, there is no shortage of girly goodies on this little number!   We have ribbon, flowers, button brads, a cute halloween border punch, and some of the cutest little pumpkins nestled in a "pretty" scallop circle!!! Nothing 'man' about this card. {wink}!

This fun little Halloween Card is my submission for the DeNami Sketch Challenge over on the DeNami Blog!
Here is the sketch we are to create from!
Very fun!
Well, I hope you enjoyed my take! I love your comments! They make me smile! :-)

The Dreaded 'MAN CARD'

Did the title of this post grab your attention? I'm willing to bet that at least a few of my card crafting friends out there can relate. If you're like me, you find yourself reaching for the ribbon, the buttons, the bows... the BLING that we all love. But wait! This is a 'man card'! You must dig down deep and find a way to restrain yourself!

I put this card together for my brother's birthday. The first jalopy, oops, I mean classic automobile that he ever rescued from the junkyard was a VW Bug. He was so proud of that car! When I showed the card to my mom, she reminded me of the first time that my brother took us for a ride in his bug.

Since it was an early model, there were no seat belts installed. I'm not sure that the brakes worked all that well and I think there may have been an exhaust leak or two. It was probably the most dangerous ride of our lives, but hey, that's the sort of thing you do for your family, right? My brother is the best mechanic in the world and he brought that old car back to life.

Anyway, I thought it would be "cute" (sorry I had to get a girly word in there) to take a trip down memory lane and make him a special card. I'm sure that his recollection of the condition of that old VW is a little different than ours, but I'm hoping that he enjoys the little flash-back to his past on his birthday! J

Okay, enough rambling. I hereby submit,  to The Play Date Cafe color challenge, the dreaded 'MAN CARD'.

Here are the colors we are to use this week!
I hope you are enjoying your day where ever you may be in your part of the world!
Warm aloha!

OTWC Challenge #26 and Tutorial

Hello all!

It's another wonderful week at Off The Wall Craftiness! Week 26 already!

Since our wonderful sponsor this week at Off the Wall Craftiness is Plaid Paint I thought I would put together a tutorial showing how you can incorporate paint instead of ink with your stamps.

So, let's start with the supplies you need to gather: Plaid acrylic paint, a paper plate to put the paint on, a foam brush that you can get at your local craft or discount store, a stamp, and cardstock. In my personal opinion, I do find that rubber stamps work better.
Ssh, don't tell my son, I took one of his paper plates!
Next, Load your sponge brush with paint.

Now you are ready to stamp the image onto cardstock. I love the different look of paint versus ink, but it takes some practice to get the technique down. Acrylic paint is a little sloppier than stamping with ink, and the image typically will not be as clear and crisp.

By using a heat tool, the drying time for the acrylic paint is less than a minute. Air drying time would be around ten minutes.
Surprisingly, the paint rinses off the stamps easily with water. I used my fingers to work water into the grooves. *The key to easy cleaning is...don't let the paint sit on the stamps. Rinse them off as soon as possible. Easy peazy!

I had some paint left over and I felt like doing some accessorizing!

I had fun working with this great product from our sponsor, Plaid Paint. Mixing the colors to incorporate ideas from our inspiration photo was a breeze!

Here is the inspiration photo...

I hope you will give stamping with paint a try! Head over to Off the Wall Craftiness blog for the amazing prize package and to see the rest of the design team’s creations.

I would love to hear your thoughts.... I would love for you to leave a comment.
Happy crafting!

Etsy Inspired Challenge #106 {Pegasus Maiden}

Hi!

This is my first entry in the  EtsyInspired Challenge!  The last few weeks have been hectic, and I feel extremely lucky to have been able to put something together for the challenge. The shop to check out this week is the Pegasus Maiden's. I can almost guarantee that you will find inspiration there.

I have been forced to move around quite a bit as a military spouse. As time goes by, I have come to realize how incredibly lucky I was growing up. I grew up in a secluded, rural, Central Florida setting surrounded by Sabal Palms and Live Oak trees, yet it was a short drive to one of the most beautiful stretches of beach on Florida's east coast.

I have wonderful childhood memories of butterflies fluttering above the tall grass in the fields which surrounded our home. As a little girl I loved to chase those butterflies, catching them for a brief time then watching them fly away after releasing them . I guess that it's no surprise that I often find myself incorporating butterflies into my cards.

So, for your enjoyment,  here is my card for the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by! So happy to be playing they have an awesome sponsor this week which is Schlosser Designs.  I love love love their products!!!! Have a good week!
Hugs and Blessings!

Jazzy Paper Designs Inspirational Challenge #13-Verve Music Group

Hi!

Jazzy Paper Designs has a fun challenge going on where you get to select you own inspirational album cover from the Verve Music Website. How fun is that?

It's hard to get in the Christmas Spirt sometimes when you live somewhere that is always 82 degrees and Sunny, so I have to make my own inspiration.... cue Christmas music, turn ac down, get hot chocolate, and craft!

My hubby didn't care for my Monochromatic black Christmas tree with the pink bling! I rather like it. MEN! I actually stamped my snow swirled tree in craft white and heat embossed and added some beautiful Pink EK Success rhinestones for a finishing touch!! My hubby is more of a traditional man! Again, pink is not his color! :-)

Here is the album cover I selected!

Happy Crafting!

DeNami Color Challenge #4

Aloha~

I am excited to slide this card in at the last minute for the current DeNami Color Challenge.  I love the colors Michele from the DeNami Design Team chose.

I don't currently own any DeNami products yet, so I have not been able to play in their challenges. I just recently discovered their products through the wonderful inspiration of many of the design team blogs and other friends.

So, here is my card for the color challenge. Out of respect for DeNami Designs, and since I don't have any of their stamps yet, I created a note card for any occasion without a stamped sentiment on it just to focus on the colors. I liked how it turned out.

Here is what I came up with...

Have a wonderful day!

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC46

Hi~

The passing of my grandmother continues to be a life changing event. I have leaned on her for my entire life, and I guess you just assume that she'll always be there (which of course, she will be, but her physical presence will be missed by many). It feels like there is a huge void in my life and finding that creative spark has been a bit of a challenge. Over time, I'm sure that my memories of her will help to inspire, but right now, I'm still stunned.

My grandmother and I share a favorite color: PINK! Her dedication to the color pink is unparalleled. The house that she lived in for sixty years was a beautiful pastel pink. In Florida you can get away with that! She always had these cute little Flamingos in the front yard.  I have always been drawn to the color. Pink is one of those colors that you love or steer clear of, and where I stand is obvious . Just ask my hubby! He looks like such a tough soldier when he's forced to use my bright pink phone in public!!!!

This week challenge at The Play Date Cafe is Color Splash Black, White with.....

PinkCopper or Gold.

of course I went with Pink! I am not sure if it's because I am having a hard time getting back into the swing of things, but every idea I had to create my card for this challenge I ended up scrapping and in the end I ended up with this, but I like it. Sometimes that is how the dice rolls!

Thanks for stopping by today!

A Tribute to a wonderful lady and Off the Wall Craftiness Challenge 24

When I started this blog I said I would never post anything personal, but since I have been absent I need to thank Kim for understanding! Just as I accepted my position to her design team someone very special to me got sick and I had just a short time to get to my home state to spend time with her. This would be my wonderful Grandmother. I still can not even put into words how special she was and I still can not believe she is gone. As someone wrote to me this week, the world is dimmer without her in it and I could not have said it better. I got my love of the beach  from her and I have to share this bathing beauty picture with you! Thank you for letting me share a little something personal and explain my absence during this difficult time.

Now onto this week's challenge at Off the Wall Craftiness.  Here is the color palette that Kim came up with.

Here is my clean and simple card.

Kim has a great sponsor this week Clear and Simple Stamps, so be sure to play for your chance to win!

Many blessing and warm aloha!
